On January 23rd 2023, our eBay community began to remove all the older and pictured AC Coolant listings from the site.

We have happy to be able to offer a new AC Coolant, R470a.

Can R470a be added to systems containing the older and pictured coolant without materially affecting the performance of the whole system?

First and foremost, the EPA does not condone, recommend or approve of mixing any AC Coolants.

*Mixing of AC Coolants is allowed in other countries however!

However, R470a does not form an azeotropic mixture with the old and pictured AC Coolant.

Therefore, if a technician inadvertently or unknowingly adds R470a to a system containing the old and pictured AC Coolant it will not generate any higher pressures and will operate as normal without any harm to system components.

*True Drop-In Replacement for the old and pictured AC Coolant

*No Oil Changes

*No System Changes Required

The only AC Coolant for all the old and pictured AC Coolant applications!

R470a is the LOWEST GWP and the Only NON-FLAMMABLE Retrofit Replacement AC Coolant

R470a has an ASHRAE designation of R470A and is now available in the United States.

This revolutionary AC Coolant is the only retrofit replacement for the old and pictured AC Coolant in existing systems.

R470A is EPA SNAP approved and A1 ASHRAE certified as non-flammable and non-toxic.

The coolant does not require design modifications or component changes.

R470a can operate with existing polyol ester (POE) oils present in the old and pictured systems.

R470a is an HFO blend, which is the environmentally friendly alternative to the commonly used blend in other AC Coolants.

Using R470a as a replacement is easy.

Just use the same tools, test instruments, and recovery machines as you use with a old and pictured AC Coolant system.

R470A can accommodate state and federal legislation as they phase out high-GWP refrigerants, such as the old and pictured AC Coolant with a 2088 GWP.

R470A is formulated to be trouble-free and works with all the old and pictured coolant compressors, system components and POE oils.

R470a has similar properties to the old and pictured coolant, including discharge pressure, discharge temperature, energy efficiency, and cooling capacity.

R470a adds up to an ideal replacement for the old and pictured coolant .

Clearly label the system to show it contains R470A.

1) Ensure the right equipment is available (e.g., recovery unit and cylinders, container for recovered lubricant, vacuum pump, weighing scales, replacement drier, etc.)

2) Record baseline data to establish the normal operating conditions for the equipment

3) Check the manufacturer’s specifications for the unit to find the recommended old and pictured coolant charge in order to determine the amount of R470A to add.

4) Replace the filter/drier if moisture is suspected in the system.

This is not necessary on a sealed system.

5) Having evacuated the system, liquid charge the unit with R470A up to 90% of the original charge amount of old and pictured coolant and then compare to baseline data.

6) Switch on the unit and compare the baseline data, monitor sight glasses, suction line pressure and temperature, and discharge temperature; add additional R470A up to the recommended  old and pictured coolant system charge amount as needed.

7) Where a thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) is present, and for optimum performance, make adjustments to attain the sweet spot.

This is not necessary for residential systems.

8) Check system thoroughly for leaks; and repair as needed.

9) Clearly label the system to show it contains R470A.

You will receive a label with the AC Coolant

Switch on the unit and compare the baseline data, monitor sight glasses, suction line pressure and temperature, and discharge temperature; add additional R470A up to the recommended  old and pictured coolant system charge amount as needed.
