New and virgin fresh refrigerant!!

*Refrigerant History

On January 1, 2022, the U.S. officially started its phase down of the older style refrigerant.

Beginning this year, 2023, the production of old style refrigerants will be reduced by 10%, while a steeper cut comes in 2024, when production must be reduced to 60% of the baseline established by the Environmental Protection Agency on old refrigerants.

On January 23rd 2023, our eBay community began to remove all of the older style refrigerants from the site and we applaud this move.

We are happy to be able to offer a new style refrigerant, R449a which is an awesome drop-in replacement for the older style refrigerant.

R449a is a new and is environment friendly!

Can R449a be added to systems containing the older style Refrigerant without materially affecting the performance of the whole system?

Yes, however, first and foremost, the EPA does not condone, recommend or approve of mixing any Refrigerant.

*Mixing of Refrigerant is allowed in other countries however!

However, R449a does not form an azeotropic mixture with the older style Refrigerant.

Therefore, if a technician inadvertently or unknowingly adds R449a to a system containing the older style Refrigerant the system will not generate any higher pressures and will operate as normal without any harm to system components.

*True Drop-In Replacement for the older style Refrigerant.

*No Oil Changes

*No System Changes Required

*Made in the USA

The only refrigerant for all the older style Refrigerant applications!

R449a is the LOWEST GWP and the Only NON-FLAMMABLE Retrofit Replacement Refrigerant for the older style Refrigerant.

R449a has an ASHRAE designation of R-449a and is now available in the United States.

This revolutionary Refrigerant is the only retrofit replacement for the older style Refrigerant used in existing AC systems.

R449a is EPA SNAP approved and A1 ASHRAE certified as non-flammable and non-toxic.

The Refrigerant does not require design modifications or component changes.

R449a can operate with existing polyol ester (POE) oils present in the older style Refrigerant systems.

R449a is an blend, which is the environmentally friendly alternative to the commonly used blend in other Refrigerants.

Using R449a as a replacement is easy.

Just use the same tools, test instruments, and recovery machines as you use with the older style refrigerant system.

R449a can accommodate state and federal legislation as they phase out high-GWP Refrigerant, such as the older style refrigerant with a 2088 GWP.

R449a is formulated to be trouble-free and works with all the older style Refrigerant in compressors, system components and POE oils.

R449a has similar properties to the older style Refrigerant, including discharge pressure, discharge temperature, energy efficiency, and cooling capacity.

R449a adds up to an ideal replacement for the older style refrigerant.

 1) Ensure the right equipment is available (e.g., recovery unit and cylinders, container for recovered lubricant, vacuum pump, weighing scales, replacement drier, etc.)

2) Record baseline data to establish the normal operating conditions for the equipment

3) Check the manufacturer’s specifications for the unit to find the recommended the older style refrigerant charge in order to determine the amount of R449a to add.

4) Replace the filter/drier if moisture is suspected in the system.

This is not necessary on a sealed system.

5) Having evacuated the system, liquid charge the unit with R449a up to 90% of the original charge amount of the older style refrigerant and then compare to baseline data.

6) Switch on the unit and compare the baseline data, monitor sight glasses, suction line pressure and temperature, and discharge temperature; add additional R449a up to the recommended the older style refrigerant system charge amount as needed.

7) Where a thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) is present, and for optimum performance, make adjustments to attain the sweet spot.

This is not necessary for sight glass system as TXV Valves require a solid stream of refrigerant.

8) Check system thoroughly for leaks; and repair as needed.

Switch on the unit and compare the baseline data, monitor sight glasses, suction line pressure and temperature, and discharge temperature; add additional R449a up to the recommended the older style refrigerant system charge amount as needed.
