On January 1, 2022, the U.S. officially started its phase down of the older style refrigerant.
Beginning this year, 2023, the production of old style refrigerants will be reduced by 10%, while a steeper cut comes in 2024, when production must be reduced to 60% of the baseline established by the Environmental Protection Agency on old refrigerants.
On January 23rd 2023, our eBay community began to remove all of the older style refrigerants from the site and we applaud this move.

Yes, however, first and foremost, the EPA does not condone, recommend or approve of mixing any Refrigerant.
*Mixing of Refrigerant is allowed in other countries however!
However, R449a does not form an azeotropic mixture with the older style Refrigerant.
Therefore, if a technician inadvertently or unknowingly adds R438a to a system containing the older style Refrigerant the system will not generate any higher pressures and will operate as normal without any harm to system components.
