Solstice® yf Refrigerant (R-1234yf)

Honeywell HFO-1234yf is a replacement for R-134a as a refrigerant in automotive air conditioners.

HFO-1234yf is the first in a new class of refrigerants acquiring a global warming potential rating 335 times less than R-134a (and only 4 times higher than carbon dioxide, which can also be used as a refrigerant but has significantly different properties to R134A, especially requiring operation at around 5 times higher pressure) and an atmospheric lifetime of about 400 times shorter.

This product is in becoming more popular and in many new vehicles in 2017.

It is growing in popularity and Refrigerant Depot is your number one source.

Solstice yf Refrigerant is a near drop-in replacement for R-134a in automobile A/C applications, helping automakers around the world comply with EU low GWP requirements.

Air conditioning systems using Solstice yf refrigerant are generally more energy efficient than competing technologies.

ASHRAE # R-1234yf
Notes Starting in January 2011, all new vehicle types must have an air

conditioning refrigerant with a global warming potential (GWP) below

150. From 2017 on, this will apply to all new vehicles.

This is based on the MAC Directive (2006/40/EG), passed in July 2006.

Solstice yf refrigerant can be used in in Europe, Japan, Korea and the U.S. Under the ECE Agreement,

Solstice yf refrigerant is also approved in Germany.

APPROVALS: Solstice yf refrigerant is registered under the EU chemical

regulation REACH, and is included in the U.S. E.P.A.’s SNAP Program

(Significant New Alternatives Policy).

With this program, the EPA evaluates new and improved substances that replace ozone-depleting substances.

As indicated on the EPA Web Site under "Refrigerant Sales Restrictions", and as of January 01, 2018, refrigerant R134a and R1234yf that is sold in containers of 2 Lbs. (32 oz.) or less, does NOT require EPA Certification to purchase.

This is directly from the EPA Web Site......

" Small cans of non-exempt MVAC (Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning) Refrigerant for example, (containers designed to hold two pounds or less) that have unique fittings, and self-sealing valves, can continue to be sold to persons without EPA Certification for DIY (Do-It-Yourselfers) on their vehicles.

This item ships UPS-Ground as a Hazardous Material Package under the "ORM-D" Limited Quantities exemption as listed in DOT-US CFR49 shipping regulations.
