An R-114 Replacement Refrigerant for Centrifugal Chillers
Freon™ 124 (R-124) refrigerant is a hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) retrofit replacement for R-114 used in centrifugal chillers and high-ambient cooling applications, including overhead cranes.
Used with alkylbenzene (AB) lubricants, general applications for Freon™ 124 include extending the life of R-114 chillers and retrofitting R-114 in certain types of positive displacement equipment.
Features and Benefits
When Freon™ 124 replaces R-114 in existing equipment, systems may gain higher refrigeration capacity. However, engineering modifications may be required.
