R114 (Dichlorotetrafluoroethane) is a chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) refrigerant, commonly known as Freon 114, historically used in industrial centrifugal chillers, marine air conditioning, and specialized cooling processes. As a Class I ozone-depleting substance, its production has been banned under the Montreal Protocol, with remaining supplies used for specific industrial
applications or destruction.
